All her small pleasures are snatched away like a bad wig

Feeling like you’re ahead of the game is a uniquely satisfying feeling.

When you realize that you’re in a position of advantage, or you have a head start compared to most people a particular situation, it fills you with relief, pride and confidence.

Do you feel grounded with your level of knowledge, skills and preparation for future challenges?

Like all the past invisible labor has positioned you for a healthier start.

Sure, there will still be risks and obstacles and failures, but there’s a level trust you have in your own resources that’s priceless.

Therefore, learning to trust our resources is a valuable skill.

And for the record, I’m not a planning personality. I am not a doomsday prepper. I only did boy scouts for two years before quitting. In fact,  often times, I think there comes a point when getting started is actually more important than more preparation.

But I do believe my relationship with preparation is healthy. Not only do I like being prepared, but I like preparing itself. The process is fun, rewarding and engaging for me.

Preparing makes me feel brave. Because part of me knows that the greater the preparation, the more fully I will be able to take advantage of opportunities whenever they arrive. I believe preparation heightens all of the other chance factors around me, and ensures that I’ll be in the best possible mental state to profit from my experiences.

Being prepared allows me to bend the unexpected to my advantage and improvise when my expectations are shattered.

We’re always preparing for something. Maybe it’s for an event we’re conscious of, maybe it’s for an uncertain future.

But being ahead of the game is a choice we can make every day. One that that fills us with a sense of relief, pride and confidence.

It won’t guarantee success, but at least momentum will be on our side.

Do you feel grounded with your level of knowledge, skills and preparation for future challenges?
